So is lovely Agia Triada beach and 2km long Zaga beach, not least known for its caretta-caretta sea turtle nesting grounds.

Half-day trips allow you to explore stunning ancient sites, such as Ancient Messini World Heritage Site, being a ‘vast ancient city as extensive as those of Olympia and Epidavros…including one of the most impressive Ancient Greek stadiums’ (Lonely Planet) and ‘one of the best preserved archaeological sites throughout Greece’ (Terrabook).

Just a little further lies bustling Kalamata, the regions capital with its ‘beautiful old town and architectural masterpieces of the 19th century’ and a ‘beach that is one of the most beautiful urban beaches of Greece’ (Terrabook).

Kalamata also has an international airport, the Kalamata International Airport Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos, with direct flights from around Europe.

Beyond Kalamata, day-trips take you to Sparta on ‘one of the most beautiful routes in Greece‘ (Greece is) or to the World Heritage Site of Ancient Olympia.
